Police roll out strict security measures for 2025 Odwira Festival

The Eastern Regional Police Command has announced heightened security measures ahead of this year’s Odwira Festival in Akropong, assuring the public of a safe and peaceful celebration.
In a notice signed by Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh of the Public Affairs Unit, the Command stated its commitment to protecting all attendees from “far and near” throughout the festivities.
“We wish to re-assure the general public… that adequate security shall be provided before, during and after the festival,” the statement said.
The Command outlined several rules for the durbar grounds, which climax activities on Friday, October 24, 2025. “No weapon of any kind shall be permitted at the durbar ground,” the police warned, adding that “no live ammunition shall be fired at the durbar grounds or any part of the municipality.”
Only persons officially sanctioned to fire muskets will be allowed and must be “properly tagged and identifiable at all times.”
To manage traffic, motorbikes will be restricted beyond the Old Assembly Junction, with designated parking at locations including Shoe Fabrique, the Municipal Assembly, Dachie Junior School, Christ Church Park, and the Old Court Premises.
The police further advised travelers to use alternative routes such as Ofankor–Pokuase–Nsawam and Dodowa–Somanya–Adukrom to ease congestion on the Ayi-Mensah–Aburi–Mamfe stretch.
“We wish to assure everyone that we shall show presence both day and night and our visibility will be felt everywhere to ensure that all persons go about their activities in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility,” the Command assured.
