Political Analyst predicts strong win for Bawumia as he rallies NPP for 2026

Ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer election scheduled for January 31, 2026, a lecturer in political science at University of Ghana, Dr Joshua Zaato, has predicted a convincing victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Per the data that has been presented, Dr Bawumia will win the flagbearer election by 61%,” he said during a panel discussion on TV3’s *Keypoints* programme.

Meanwhile, Bawumia, who served as Vice President of Ghana, is emphasising that his potential win would translate into victory for the entire party.

“My victory shall mean victory for the whole NPP,” he declared after concluding his tour of the Bono East Region.

He added that once he wins the primaries, his intention is to “bring everyone on board to help bring the New Patriotic Party back to the top.”

He further stressed the importance of unity within the party as they gear up for the 2026 presidential primaries.

“Even as we approach the 2026 presidential primaries, we must remain united,” he explained, reflecting on the enthusiastic reception he received during his regional tour.

During his visit to Bono East, Bawumia said he was “impressed by the massive show of support” from fellow NPP patriots, asserting that such backing strengthens his resolve to push forward a collective vision.
