My return to Parliament depends on passage of the Family Values Bill

Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has expressed a personal ultimatum over the future of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill.
The Ho West MP declared during an appearance on JoyNews’ PM Express that his return to Parliament hinges entirely on the bill being passed and assented to.
“If it’s not assented to, I will not come back to Parliament again,” he stated, underscoring the seriousness of his stance.
He stressed that this was not a private threat but one he had openly communicated to his colleagues and the public.
“This is a live studio, and I’m saying it. I’ve even told my colleagues. I’ve told everybody that if it’s not passed and assented to, I’ll not come back. What do I come to do? If I don’t have a principle, I don’t have a moral principle to my generation’s unborn, then what am I doing?”
According to Bedzrah, his commitment to the bill is rooted not in political theatrics but in values he believes must guide national leadership.
“That is my whole life. I mean, some of us, you know us, I did not just enter Parliament because I want to be a member of Parliament,” he noted, distancing himself from what he described as a purely political approach adopted by some colleagues.
His comments doubled down on the principle-driven motivation behind his parliamentary career and his unwavering belief that lawmakers must stand firmly by their convictions.
“Our principles, and we must defend those principles. My colleagues who think that we are just there to do politics, some of us are not there to do politics.
We are there for a purpose, for the forward movement and advancement of this country,” he asserted.
