Afenyo-Markin never engaged us on bill amendments

Ho West MP Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has dismissed claims by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin that the sponsors of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill refused to cooperate on proposed amendments.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Bedzrah insisted that no such engagement ever occurred.

“He has never come to us as sponsors either to change or do any amendment, or even hold on the bill,” Bedzrah insisted.

“This is the first time I’m hearing anything like this, and I am surprised that the same Minority Leader today will stand in front of everybody in Parliament advocating for this bill.

“So what kind of double tongue is this?”

He further rejected the suggestion that the bill’s sponsors resisted input.

“We meet as eight members, including Hon. Fordjour, to agree as to how to go about this business.

“When he brought those amendments, he lost miserably,” he revealed, stressing that at no point did Mr Afenyo-Markin or anyone from his office reach out to discuss proposed changes.
