Wendy Shay explains why she left nursing for music

Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has said her decision to pursue music was not a personal choice but a calling she could not ignore.
Speaking in an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime as monitored by MyNewsGh, the “Survivor” hitmaker stated, “I think that music actually chose me.
There are a lot of people who can sing and even have more talent than I do, but somehow, I found myself doing music in Ghana. I believe I’ve been called and chosen to do this.”
Wendy revealed that before moving to Ghana, she studied music for four and a half years in Germany while also training as a nurse. She participated in major talent shows such as Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar and The Voice of Germany.
Her professional career began after she met Rufftown Records CEO, Bullet, in 2017 through her uncle during the Bliss on the Hills concert. In 2018, she was officially signed to the label.
Wendy also said she has no regrets about the criticisms she faced after joining the industry. “Nobody can replace anybody. Ebony was unique, and so am I,” she said.
