It would be cool to have a woman as GHAMRO President — Wendy Shay

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has said she would welcome the opportunity to lead a creative industry organization such as Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) or Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) if the right conditions were met.
In an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh, Wendy said, “That would be really cool. If the government and the right people back me financially to change things, I’d love to lead. It would be nice to have a woman as president.”
She added that women in the entertainment industry often have to work harder to gain recognition, saying, “Women are built differently. We deal with emotional and physical challenges that men don’t, yet we still have to show up strong.”
Wendy also called for greater support for female musicians, naming artists such as Sista Afia, Eno Barony, and Gyakie as examples of women doing well in the field.
According to her, the industry would benefit from more women in leadership roles who understand the specific challenges female artists face.
