NDC MP denies wrongdoing, honours CID invitation over Hwidiem incident

A legal team representing Asutifi North Member of Parliament, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, has responded to a police statement regarding an incident at Hwidiem, confirming that the MP will honour an invitation to assist with investigations.

In a letter dated November 3, 2025 and addressed to the Inspector-General of Police with attention to the CID, the law firm Asomah-Cheremeh & Co stated that their client “categorically denies any act or omission amounting to misconduct or obstruction of police duties.”

According to the lawyers, the MP’s actions on the day of the incident were driven by efforts to maintain calm. “His conduct on the material day was solely motivated by the desire to calm tensions and prevent a possible breakdown of public order,” the letter noted.

The legal team emphasized the MP’s commitment to due process and public safety, stating, “Our client reiterates his unwavering commitment to the rule of law, public order, and the peace and security of his constituents, adjoining communities, and the country as a whole.”

They confirmed that Hon. Addo will appear at the CID Headquarters as requested. “Our client will present himself at the CID Headquarters today, the 3rd of November 2025 at 4:00 p.m.,” the letter said.

The lawyers requested that any further communication regarding the matter be directed to their office.
