Police launch manhunt after armed attack on immigration officers in Upper East

The IGP has reportedly deployed a special task force to hunt for the assailants who attacked two Immigration Officers in Naagani Basyonde in the Tempane District in the Upper East Region on Sunday night, November 2, 2025.
Police reports indicate that the officers were returning from routine foot patrol duties around 10 p.m. when they were ambushed.
The attackers fired at them and made away with two AK-47 rifles belonging to the Ghana Immigration Service.
The victims were immediately transported to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital. One officer was confirmed dead on arrival, while the other is receiving treatment.
Security sources say intelligence personnel and investigators have been deployed to the Garu-Tempane enclave to aid in efforts to locate the gunmen and retrieve the firearms.
Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman Sumaila, Public Relations Officer for the Upper East Regional Police Command, noted that a full-scale investigation is underway.
He urged residents to remain calm and assist with credible information that could help uncover those behind the attack.
