Ama Pratt declares no immunity for NDC MP if implicated in galamsey attack

Ama Pratt has addressed the ongoing case involving NDC MP Ebenezer Kwaku Addo and the alleged role of political actors in an attack linked to illegal mining at Bronikrom near Hwidiem. She made it clear that accountability cannot bend to political colours.
“I wanted the facts to come out first,” she explained on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGh, noting that when the issue first emerged, “neither the MP nor the minister had spoken.”
She added, “If the investigations confirm what is being alleged, nobody should be protected. This fight is not for party members. It is for Ghana.”
The incident, recorded on Saturday, November 1, 2025, involved an attack on the NAIMOS Director and his team as they intercepted illegal miners.
Police later retrieved a Smith & Wesson pistol, ammunition, two magazines, unregistered Range Rover and Toyota RAV4 vehicles, and multiple phones.
Pratt stressed that the government’s posture offers a clear message. “We have seen President John Dramani Mahama’s stance.
“Nobody will be shielded if found culpable,” she stated, describing the swift move by the Speaker of Parliament to permit police investigations as evidence of genuine commitment.
“This is how you dismantle a network. You do not defend your own when they are suspected.”
In her view, this response marks a break from the past. “Under the previous administration, people accused of these same activities were close to power.
“We all saw it,” she argued. She maintained that current government communication is focused on progress and enforcement rather than excuses and blame. “What we are seeing now is a reset. Institutions are being allowed to work, and that is how a country moves forward.”
