Soldiers threatened by illegal miners in Manso Mpatuam

Vincent Ekow Assafuah has shared a video of defiant illegal miners at Manso Mpatuam threatening security personnel, warning that the development amounts to a national security crisis.
Posting the videos, as seen by MyNewsGh, the Old Tafo Member of Parliament (MP) stated;
“This video says it all; galamseyers boldly threatening to attack men in uniform. With such open defiance, does the galamsey menace not qualify as a national security crisis?
“Maybe it’s time to ban all forms of mining until law and order are restored.”
Assafuah criticised the government’s approach, noting that while the President has promised increased funding for blue water guards, men in uniform continue to face direct threats.
“How helpless must the state become before we act?” he asked.
He also pointed to the role of political promises, highlighting, “The silence from the so-called neutrals and CSOs is deafening. Indeed, God alone is truthful.
“The NDC, through messengers like Kwaku Boahen, promised the youth will be allowed to do galamsey when they win and now, we are reaping the results.”
Assafuah warned that without decisive leadership, the destruction will continue unabated.
“Until leadership finds the courage to confront this rot head-on, our rivers will keep dying, our forests will keep vanishing, and our security forces will keep losing authority.
“Ghana cannot afford to be held hostage by lawlessness masquerading as livelihood,” he concluded.
