Security forces have arrested more than 150 people, mostly young men, in a major joint police and military operation carried out at dawn on Wednesday in the Ahafo Region.
The coordinated exercise targeted the communities of Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District and Hwediem in the Asutifi South District, areas recently affected by tensions linked to the NAIMOS–Bronikrom clash between anti-illegal mining officers and unidentified youth.
According to security sources, the suspects have been transported to the Police Headquarters in Accra for detailed questioning and verification.
Residents described the operation as extensive, with heavily armed officers moving through neighborhoods, checking houses, and screening individuals.
