Recruitment is just a show, the real soldiers are already selected

Presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has broken his silence on the tragic incident at the Elwak Sports Stadium and Kumasi, where some young men reportedly died and others sustained injuries during the ongoing military recruitment exercise.
The outspoken former Member of Parliament did not mince words, describing the deaths as “needless” and blaming the system for what he says is widespread corruption and political favoritism in the recruitment process.
“Those young men who lost their lives died for nothing,” Agyapong stated.
“The people who will be recruited have already been selected through favoritism and political connections. What happened on Wednesday was just a formality to deceive the public.”
He alleged that the recruitment exercise is often staged to create the impression of fairness when, in reality, the outcome has already been determined.
“To deceive Ghanaians, once their own people have been recruited, they still go ahead to open nominations for desperate and jobless youth who genuinely want to serve their country,” he said. “They make them buy forms, go through the process, and yet none of them will be selected. It’s all for show.”
Agyapong, who is seeking to become president, vowed to end such practices if elected.
“I’m a politician who has been in the system, so I know what I’m talking about,” he declared.
“When I become president, I’ll make sure all these things stop. I will have my appointees arrested if they engage in favoritism or manipulate recruitment. The process must be open and fair to every qualified Ghanaian.”
He further explained that his outspoken nature and commitment to truth have made him unpopular among certain figures within and outside his party, but he remains resolute.
“My honesty and boldness have earned me enemies, both within my party and beyond,” he said. “But I don’t care. I’ll continue to speak the truth and do what is right for the country. Ghana comes first.”
