The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has conducted a dawn raid to clear illegal miners from the notorious ‘Yellow Face’ site in Wassa Abrehyia, Western Region.
The sudden deployment of the task force forced galamseyers to flee the area to avoid arrest.
During the operation, NAIMOS officers destroyed makeshift structures and equipment used for illicit mining activities.
Investigators also uncovered widespread use of drugs and explosives at the site.
NAIMOS said it will continue similar targeted operations in the coming days and weeks to curb illegal mining and eliminate the presence of illicit substances in affected areas.
