Let budget work be guided by respect and purpose

Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei has called on Members of Parliament to approach the national budget debate with unity, open-mindedness, and a commitment to the collective interest of Ghanaians.

Speaking at a Post-Budget Workshop for parliamentarians in Accra on Saturday, November 15, she emphasized the need for constructive engagement as MPs scrutinize the 2026 budget.

“Let us ask the hard questions, but let us also seek practical answers. Let us challenge each other’s assumptions, but do so with respect and a shared sense of purpose,” she told participants.

Appiagyei stressed that the value of the process lies not in political point-scoring but in the quality of input from all sides of the House.

“At the end of this process, what will matter most are our collective inputs that help shape a budget that is more just, more balanced, and more responsive to the needs of Ghanaians,” she added.

The Deputy Minority Leader reiterated that the budget debate must remain a platform where parliamentarians work collaboratively to strengthen Ghana’s economic direction rather than deepen partisan divides.
