Qatar to recruit Ghanaian professionals in key sectors

Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that Qatar will immediately recruit Ghanaian professionals in the health, tourism, IT, transport and logistics sectors.

Following a meeting with Qatari Undersecretary of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, Ablakwa stated: “Qatar has expressed interest in immediately recruiting Ghanaian professionals.”

He confirmed that “Qatar has already ratified our labour cooperation agreement with the Ghanaian Parliament expected to ratify in the next few weeks.”

Additionally, Ghana has requested that “Qatar establishes its West African Qatar Visa Centre for labour mobility in Ghana.”

Qatari employers have “commended Ghanaian workers for their impressive work ethic and high standards,” Ablakwa noted.

The Minister affirmed the administration’s commitment to “creating opportunities for the Ghanaian youth both home and abroad through smart and pragmatic policies.”
