Mahama and Ato Forson deserve applause for the work they’ve done

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has commended President John Dramani Mahama and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for what he described as decisive and disciplined economic leadership. He made the remarks during an appearance on GHOne TV, monitored by MyNewsGh.
Adongo argued that the pair have demonstrated a clear understanding of economic management, stressing that their work deserves national acknowledgment.
“Look the work that His Excellency and his finance minister have done. You see they need to applaud them. They need to get a Mallam who will pray for them for His Excellency John Mahama to start thinking from the other side and get to suddenly lose how it is to run an economy,” he said.
According to him, maintaining focus has been key to their performance. “As long as they continue to keep the focus, my brother, they will be forced to sing praises.”
He emphasized that the president’s support has strengthened the finance minister’s ability to take tough decisions.
“If you have a finance minister who doesn’t have the backing of the president, he will be a failure because there are certain difficult decisions that you will take that even your colleagues are not comfortable with. But that is what is required to swallow the bitter pill and heal.”
Adongo also referenced ongoing efforts to correct inherited loopholes and renegotiate bloated agreements. He pointed to contract reviews that produced financial gains, saying Dr. Forson’s team had secured savings for the state.
He highlighted the minister’s commitment to due process. “This thing requires the approval of the people of Ghana. So I’m going back to parliament. I want to be transparent. I want the people of Ghana to give me the mandate.”
He described this posture as a sign of sound governance. “That financial governance mentality will go down as one of his best.”
