Democracy Hub Member Retracts Galamsey Allegations, Issues Public Apology

Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, a member of Democracy Hub, has retracted allegations he made against three Regional Ministers during an interview on Aluta 92.1 FM’s Anopa Koko morning show on Wednesday, November 18, 2025.
In a press release issued later that day, Yeboah admitted that his claims, accusing the Regional Ministers for Ashanti (Dr. Frank Amoakohene), Western (Mr. Joseph Nelson), and Eastern (Madam Rita Akosua Awatey) Regions of involvement in illegal mining, were unfounded and made “in the spur of the moment.”
“I wish to state emphatically that those remarks were not based on truth, evidence, or the official position of Democracy Hub,” he wrote.
Yeboah expressed regret for any harm or distress his words may have caused the accused ministers, as well as any reputational damage to Democracy Hub. He offered a “deep and unreserved apology” and stressed that the statements did not reflect the organisation’s views.
He further acknowledged the inappropriateness of his comments during the live broadcast, stating, “I sincerely retract those comments in their entirety.”
Concluding his statement, Yeboah took full responsibility for his “misstep” and pledged to ensure that all future public engagements would be guided by “facts, respect, and integrity.”
