Ablakwa announces new Ghana–Qatar security and trade agreements

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced new collaborative commitments between Ghana and Qatar following high-level bilateral engagements in Doha.
In a statement, the Minister expressed appreciation to Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, and the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, describing the discussions as “profoundly productive and mutually beneficial.”
Ablakwa said the two countries had agreed to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.
“Ghana and Qatar will deepen our security cooperation, collaborate in global conflict resolution initiatives and promote enhanced alliances between our armed forces,” he stated.
He also confirmed an agreement to boost economic relations.
“We have also agreed to facilitate the establishment of the first Ghana-Qatar chamber of commerce to bolster our trade relations and create markets for businesses from both countries,” he said.
