Chairperson of the NPP-USA Branch, Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, has expressed concern over the abrupt cancellation of proxy voting for the upcoming NPP presidential candidate election.
Speaking on Okay FM 101.7 on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, she noted that no alternative arrangements have been communicated to members.
“The NPP operates under the Constitution of Ghana, which allows proxy voting under CI127, Regulation 25 for general elections. Proxy voting has been a practice within our party for about 30 years, yet the Presidential Election Committee cancelled it overnight without prior consultations,” she said.
Obaa Yaa described the decision as “unfair,” emphasizing that members were not consulted and no substitutes or alternatives have been provided to address the sudden change.
She urged the committee to consider transparent engagement with party members and provide clear guidelines to ensure a fair and inclusive election process.
