Osofo Kyiri Abosom, leader of the Osofo Kyiri Abosom Ministries and founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has expressed strong support for President John Dramani Mahama, praising his leadership and suggesting he could even back a constitutional amendment for a third term.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom said, “He has done very well, and I am happy with his style of leadership.
“What he is doing right now will help the country. If John Mahama can continue his good work, I will put GUM on hold during election time and join the NDC.”
The GUM leader went further to express openness to a constitutional change allowing Mahama to seek a third term in office.
“If we can change the constitution for Mahama to rule for a third term, I will be happy. I even pray that he will have the strength to continue the third term because I want Ghana to develop,” he said.
Reflecting on his political journey, Osofo Kyiri Abosom noted past party affiliations.
“I was an NDC member during Jerry John Rawlings’ time until I switched to the NPP during Kufuor’s era.
“I was an NPP card-bearing member and even campaigned for Akufo-Addo, but I switched when his administration began to underperform,” he explained.
