Video at Center of blogger’s arrest ‘not AI-generated’ — Halifax Ansah-Addo

On-air personality and journalist Halifax Ansah-Addo has defended blogger Samuel Amadotor following his arrest over a video said to contain false information about former National Communication Authority (NCA) Board Chair, Mr. Okatakye Boakye Danquah Ababio II.

Amadotor was picked up at dawn, detained for three nights, and later arraigned in court over claims that the footage he circulated was fabricated. According to the police, the video also featured the late investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

Speaking publicly on the issue on Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh, Halifax insisted that nothing he reviewed suggested the footage was artificially generated. He explained that he personally sought expert analysis to verify its authenticity.

“I asked experts to view the video and determine whether it was AI-generated,” he said. “They all said it is not fake video.”

Halifax also referenced a message accompanying the footage sent to him, attributed to Emmanuel Yeboah, which urged the recipient to examine the background of individuals mentioned in the recording. The note suggested political and personal sensitivities surrounding the content.

The message read in part: “Please check the background of who Mr. Isaac Emmanuel is, his relationship with the former president, and why you will not be comfortable with the video going public. If one journalist is not free, no journalist is free.”
