I’m proud to be in this era

Nigerian actress, producer, and model Yvonne Jegede marked two decades in the entertainment industry with reflections on her career and Nollywood’s evolution.
Speaking on TVC as monitored by MyNewsGh, Jegede shared insights into her journey, starting from her early days on set with her late uncle, Ignous Sequ.
“I started off with sheer love for it. Acting wasn’t even part of my childhood plans,” Jegede said.
She recounted how she met director Charles Novia by chance on the streets, which led to her first significant role in the film Missing Angel. “He asked me, ‘Do you want to act?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, why not.’ That was it,” she said.
Jegede, who has appeared in over 100 films, praised Nollywood’s growth over the past 20 years. “It has gone a hundred steps forward. Before, it was more like a return on investment for the forerunners, but now people go to proper institutions to learn filmmaking.
Some even learn how to make money from movies through digital marketing and other tools,” she noted.
The actress emphasized the role of technology in making production easier and more professional. “There’s been a huge step, and I’m proud to be part of this era,” she said.
Jegede also revealed plans to celebrate her career milestone by giving back to the creative community. “I have a big heart and I love to share knowledge.
“On that day, I’ll be unveiling a movie and sharing as much information as I can with the community, helping people make informed decisions about their careers and finances,” she explained.
