Financing for Damongo Work Project secured

Managing Director(MD) of Ghana Water Company Limited(GWCL), Hon Adam Mutawakilu, has stated that funding for the Damango Water Project in the West Gonja District of the Savannah Region has been secured and an award for implementation to deserving contractors will be done soon.

The Managing Director made this known he and his technical team visited proposed sites of the Damango Water Project in the Savannah Region last Friday, November 21, 2025, as part of preparatory work for the project.

The Damango Water Project, when complete, will not only address a decades-long inadequate water supply issue to the Damango Municipality and its environs but also supply water to the Tamale Metropolis, which continues to suffer from inadequate water supply.

The team apprised themselves of the conditions of the Yapei water system and the proposed pipelines and assessed how water would be supplied from it to the Damongo and beyond.

The Project is expected to be completed when it starts. Mr Mutawakilu assured residents that the project, which is captured in the 2026 budget, will be duly executed as part of the Government’s commitment to make potable water available to its citizens.
