Oppong-Nkrumah urges delegates to prioritise competence and party unity in flagbearer vote

Former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah has likened some divisive aspirants in the New Patriotic Party’s(NPP’s) flagbearer race to the woman in the biblical story of King Solomon, who showed no concern for the child’s welfare.
Referencing 1 Kings 3:16, he explained that King Solomon resolved the dispute between two women through wisdom, identifying the true mother as the one who showed tenderness and genuine care for the baby.
Oppong-Nkrumah said this story mirrors the behaviour of some candidates whose political actions do not promote unity or the party’s collective interest, and also some others who promote unity through their policies.
According to him, as the NPP prepares for its internal elections, delegates must observe the policies and attitudes of aspirants carefully. He stressed that some candidates present policies that promote peace, harmony, development, and oneness, similar to the compassionate woman in the biblical account, while others display traits that resemble the woman who preferred the baby be killed.
He urged delegates to distinguish between these two types of leadership and choose the candidate whose vision and conduct demonstrate genuine commitment to the party’s welfare and Ghana’s progress.
