Why I want Kissi Agyebeng to be sacked- Martin Kpebu

Ghanaian lawyer Martin Kpebu says Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has “outlived his usefulness” and should “leave office immediately” for the sake of Ghana’s anti-corruption effort.
Kpebu insisted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has suffered a loss of credibility under Agyebeng’s leadership.
“He just has to resign. That will be the better thing so he won’t have to think about his ego,” Kpebu said Speaking on the KSM Show monitroed by MyNeewsGh.
“For the betterment of society, he should get out of that office.”
Kpebu criticised Agyebeng’s public assertions that national security agencies failed to assist the OSP in an attempt to arrest a suspect.
“What he told you, that he went to the National Investigative Bureau, national security, immigration and didn’t get help, is false,” he said. He added that both current and former NIB officials had confirmed to him that “he never came.”
According to Kpebu, the claim has brought the Bureau into disrepute. “The damage is done to NIB. He has reduced BNI in the eyes of citizens,” he argued.
Kpebu maintained that public trust in the OSP had collapsed. “Go to social media and you will see citizens saying he should go. He has embarrassed the institution,” he said.
He added that Agyebeng’s deputy, Cynthia Lamptey, is “far more senior at the bar,” emphasising that the office’s work would continue seamlessly after his resignation.
“Then we’ll get a new Special Prosecutor. It will be a lesson to the next person how not to be a Special Prosecutor.”
Kpebu has already announced his intention to file a petition for Agyebeng’s removal. “Currently there are 16 petitions, and I’m preparing mine. It will include corruption,” he said.
