Afenyo-Markin urges NPP members to emulate NDC’s patience in difficult times

Minority Leader in Parliament and Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has appealed to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain patient and committed to party cohesion, pointing to what he described as the endurance shown by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in similar circumstances.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Afenyo-Markin highlighted the financial and logistical struggles some NDC MPs face, noting that despite these hardships, they remain steadfast in supporting their party’s direction.

“Our brothers in the NDC, we are in Parliament with them and they are suffering. Some of them come to Parliament with Uber. Some of them are on the backbench and they are not on any board,” he stated.

According to him, the commitment displayed by the NDC caucus is a lesson worth observing. “They are suffering but they have a common understanding that they have to take time for the party,” he added.

Using the NDC example, Afenyo-Markin urged disgruntled or impatient members of the NPP to exercise similar restraint, especially during internal disagreements, policy debates, or moments of uncertainty.

He stressed that long-term political success requires unity, sacrifice, and a shared sense of purpose, values he believes both parties must uphold for Ghana’s democracy to thrive.
