How Ali Christopher got his degree without feet and hands

Even though Mr Ali Christopher had his hands and feet amputated, he has remained determined to have an education to the highest level possible to not only secure a better future for himself but to inspire other persons living with disability to not allow their disabilities to be a barrier to the achievement of their education pursuits.

Without determination, commitment and an unyielding spirit to improvise and adapt to situations, he would have had no secondary education.

Having successfully passed his West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), he proceeded to the University for Development Studies ( UDS ) to pursue a degree

Movement on campus and writing were a challenge, but Ali Christopher did everything possible to participate fully in all academic activities that would earn him his degree.

His efforts to have an education despite his disability did not go unnoticed on campus. The University community took note and lent support whenever they could. Many students quietly took inspiration from him.

So at the 26th UDS Graduation, he got a standing ovation for defying the odds to study and graduate.

“The University community at the 26th Congregation witnessed a moment that will be remembered for years, a moment defined by resilience, courage, and the power of human determination.

Ali Christopher, a physically challenged student with both hands and feet amputated, graduated against all odds, stirring emotions across the auditorium.

Throughout his years on campus, many students encountered Ali in various places, crossing the walkways, attending lectures, or quietly making his way to the library.

Those who shared classrooms with him speak of his remarkable spirit and discipline. His former SHS classmates also testify to the same unwavering determination that has always driven him to reach for the stars. To them, Ali has never been a symbol of limitation but a living proof that disability is not inability,” the University Communications Directorate wrote on social media.

Congratulations to Ali Christopher on his remarkable achievement.
