Ghana’s Black Queens lost to England’s Lionesses in an international friendly.
This was the first time the two countries met in women’s football.
Two goals from the European Champions sealed their year, which has been marked with splendid performances.
The England National Team scored an early goal in the first half after Ghana’s defensive blunder.
Lucia Kendall slotted it past the Queens to give the English team an early lead; however, the Black Queens held the English team and prevented them from scoring, although several scoring chances were created.
The first half ended with England leading by a lone goal.
The second half started with intensity from the Black Queens, who had gained their confidence.
However, a last-minute VAR check after Confort Yeboah’s block of Russo’s header led to a penalty, which was slotted in the Ghana net by Russo to give the Lionesses a 2-0 victory in the game.
Speaking to the press after the game, the coach of the Ghana Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, was grateful for the performance put up by his girls.
