No area will be spared -KMA Mayor responds to criticisms

The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has responded to claims from some political critics who allege that the ongoing decongestion exercise is a deliberate attempt to gain political favour as it is being done selectively.
According to the critics, the mayor is focusing the exercise only a few metres from his office, while neglecting other areas in the metropolis that urgently need similar attention. They argue that the approach appears selective, stressing that in this era, whether officials are from the NPP or the NDC, “we will criticise you and tell you the truth when what you are doing is not right,” insisting that accountability is necessary for the country’s progress.
They pointed out that areas such as Alabar remain heavily congested, yet the mayor has visited Bantama, Adum, and Kejetia multiple times without extending similar efforts to Alaba.
Responding to these concerns, Mayor Ofori Boadi Agyemang explained that the decongestion operation is being implemented in a step-by-step manner aimed at sustaining progress in each area before moving to the next.
“It is a step-by-step approach, making sure we sustain what we have done and then progress,” he said. “Just as we have worked on Bantama and the rest, we will also work on the others. Next week, we’ll go to Alabar.”
He further revealed that his office has received formal requests from Alaba market leaders, appealing for the same intervention. “Since the market leaders have requested, and we already had plans of going there, we will proceed and carry out the decongestion,” he added.
