Ned Nwoko warns US, UK, over alleged attempts to misuse family issues for Asylum

Senator Ned Nwoko has urged authorities in the United States and United Kingdom to scrutinize any asylum claims linked to what he describes as fabricated narratives built around his family.
In a formal statement, the senator’s office said attempts to create “artificial drama around a stable family structure” were being used to pursue questionable advantages abroad.
He called on both governments to rely solely on verified information rather than social media content or sensational claims.
According to the statement, such maneuvers represent a broader pattern in which online drama is weaponized to mislead institutions and manipulate public sympathy. The senator noted that this trend poses long-term risks.
“Today, falsehood may be deployed against one individual; tomorrow, it may be directed at anyone,” the statement warned.
He stressed that his focus remains on his legislative and development responsibilities, adding that online controversies will not distract him.
The senator encouraged Nigerians to disregard circulating claims and allow lawful processes to proceed without interference.
