We honour your hard work

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has paid tribute to Ghana’s farming community as the country celebrates National Farmers’ Day today, December 5, 2025. In a message shared on her social media pages, she honoured the men and women whose labour continues to sustain households and drive the nation’s food security.
“Today, we honour the men and women whose hard work feeds our nation and sustains our daily lives. We celebrate the food you produce, the dignity of your labour, and the hope you plant in every season,” she said.
The Vice President placed particular emphasis on the contributions of women in agriculture, noting their role in supporting families and communities across the country.
“I want to acknowledge, especially, the many women who go to the farms each day to provide for their families. You inspire us to build a system that supports you, protects you, and expands your opportunities.”
She reaffirmed Government’s commitment to ensuring that farmers receive the necessary support to thrive. According to her, policy efforts remain focused on strengthening agriculture, improving market conditions, and enhancing livelihoods.
“On Farmers’ Day, we reaffirm our gratitude and our responsibility. Government will continue to pursue policies that strengthen agriculture, ensure fair returns, and create dignified conditions,” she stated.
The Vice President ended her message with goodwill to farmers across the country: “May God bless our homeland and the farmers who cultivate its soil.”
Ghana’s National Farmers’ Day, celebrated annually on the first Friday of December, is a national holiday dedicated to recognising the vital contribution of farmers and fishermen to national development.
