Coach Ibrahim Anyass granted GHC50,000 bail in case linked to teen footballer’s death

Coach Ibrahim Anyass, of Siano Football Academy in Amasaman, Accra, has reportedly been granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties as his case continues in court.
Anyass was arrested over allegations of sodomizing 16-year-old Ransford Owusu Ansah, a young footballer whose tragic death earlier this year has sparked national outrage.
Reports indicate that Ransford was repeatedly sexually abused at the academy, an ordeal that affected his health and emotional well-being, ultimately contributing to his hospitalization and death.
According to Crime Check TV, Ransford is not the only alleged victim. Another player under Anyass’s care has come forward, assisting crime officers in reconstructing the abuse at the academy.
The second victim has since undergone medical tests, including HIV screening, and is awaiting results.
The case gained widespread attention in November 2025 when the hashtag #JusticeForRansford trended on social media, with Ghanaians demanding accountability.
An online petition launched on November 7, which gathered over 1,400 signatures, called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana Police Service, and other relevant agencies to investigate and prosecute Anyass, as well as to suspend the academy pending a full inquiry.
Ransford’s mother reportedly noticed troubling changes in her son’s behavior and health before he confided about the abuse.
Despite early complaints, no arrest or formal invitation was extended to the coach for several months, fueling public anger and calls for justice.
Supporters of Ransford and his family hope Anyass’s appearance before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) signals a step toward accountability and justice for the young footballer.
