We restored fiscal discipline and Ghanaians can see the results

Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the administration’s first year in office has been marked by strong fiscal discipline, decisive expenditure control and a commitment to reversing what he calls “years of economic destruction” under the previous government.
The Abura Asebu-Kwamankese MP insisted that the country’s economic gains are the result of deliberate policy choices, not inherited foundations while speaking on Face to Face on Channel One monitored by MyNewsGh.
“We have achieved what we promised,” he said. “There has been a 360-degree turnaround in the economy. Inflation has dropped to 6.3%, the cedi has appreciated, debt levels have fallen, and the cost of living is easing.”
Kwakye Ofosu rejected claims that the government is benefiting from the previous administration’s groundwork.
“I don’t know what foundation they are talking about,” he stated. “By the time we took over, debt was unsustainable, the deficit had ballooned, and economic mismanagement had pushed millions into hardship.”
He maintained that the government’s strict adherence to expenditure limits is the biggest factor driving the recovery.
“We kept within budgetary limits. When revenue fell short, expenditure was cut accordingly,” he explained. “Under the NPP, anytime revenue fell, they rather ballooned spending.”
He further noted that key social sectors have seen improvements in funding consistency.
“For the first time in years, NHIS has money waiting for service providers,” he said.
“Headmasters are no longer complaining about feeding grants. Assemblies that previously received less than one million cedis now have over six million.”
According to him, the administration’s approach is simple; “Spend on what matters, health, education, wages, and cut out the waste.”
