We must collaborate, not compete – PSC Vice-Chair tells Police Ladies
The Vice-Chair of the Public Services Commission (PSC), Dr. (Mrs) Stella Agyenim-Boateng, has called on policewomen to deepen collaboration and fully harness their talents to meet the demands of modern policing.
She made the remarks as the Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the inauguration of the Accra Regional Chapters of the Police Ladies’ Association (POLAS) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Dr. Agyenim-Boateng described the inauguration as a significant step toward inclusivity, advocacy and professional growth for women in the Ghana Police Service. She noted that the support shown by the Police Administration reflected the Service’s recognition of the role of policewomen.
She traced the history of women in the Police Service to 1952 and disclosed that about 13,671 women currently serve nationwide, praising POLAS for its contribution to welfare, leadership development and mentorship since its establishment in 1989.
Speaking on the event’s theme, “Harnessing the Collective Talents and Potentials of Police Ladies for Effective Policing,” she stressed that empowering policewomen was critical, not optional, in an era of evolving crime and advanced technology.
Dr. Agyenim-Boateng urged members to embrace mentorship, continuous learning and teamwork, warning against isolation and internal rivalry. She also encouraged policewomen to reject stereotypes and confidently pursue leadership roles.
She announced that the PSC was ready to collaborate with POLAS on leadership and human resource development initiatives and invited the Association to participate in the Conference of Women Leaders in the Public Service scheduled for February 2026.
She congratulated POLAS on the successful inauguration and wished members a productive 2026.
