A plane landing in Ghana doesn’t mean it’s carrying drugs – Adu Asare

Former Adentan MP Kojo Adu Asare has ridiculed claims by Rev. Ntim Fordjour that drug trafficking has surged under the NDC government, saying such accusations are based on speculation rather than facts.
“A plane lands in Ghana, and suddenly it means the government is trafficking drugs? Is that the logic?” Adu Asare questioned in an interview on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH. “Planes land in Ghana every day. How do you jump to such a conclusion without evidence?”
He argued that Rev. Fordjour should have verified his concerns through official channels before making public accusations.
“He is the Ranking Member for Defense and Interior. He has access to the IGP, the Chief of Defense Staff, and Customs. Why didn’t he make an effort to ascertain the facts before rushing to hold a press conference?”
Adu Asare dismissed the allegations as an attempt to discredit the government. “The opposition is desperate to paint us in the same light as they were. But the truth is, we are not in the same league when it comes to matters of integrity.”
He emphasized that the current administration has already made significant strides in combating drug trafficking.
“Within months of being in office, we have made major drug busts. Under their leadership, did we ever hear of such arrests? Are they suggesting this is the first time drug traffickers have attempted to operate in Ghana?”
The former MP called on Ghanaians to disregard baseless accusations and focus on tangible results. “We are here to govern seriously. We are not saints, but we will not shield anyone who engages in wrongdoing. The opposition should stop trying to fabricate scandals where none exist.”
He concluded with a strong message to Rev. Fordjour and others making similar claims. “If you allege, you must prove. Speculation is not evidence. The government will not be distracted by empty noise.”
