A remarkable vote of confidence — Bawumia reacts after 490 youth picked forms for him

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed gratitude to the youth organisers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after more than 490 of them picked up nomination forms on his behalf ahead of the party’s January 2026 presidential primary.
“The youth organisers of our party across the length and breadth of our party, 490 out of 552, came to me,” Dr. Bawumia said.
“The leadership requested that they wanted to put their widows’ mite together and pick my nomination forms for me. I agreed because that was a remarkable vote of confidence in me.”
On Wednesday, August 13, the organisers — including substantive and deputy youth leaders from constituencies across the country — presented the forms to Dr. Bawumia at his campaign office after picking them from the party’s head office.
The gesture follows a strategic meeting held on July 29, 2025, where the group endorsed him as “the only candidate capable of securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” citing his “exceptional leadership, proven track record, and vision for Ghana’s future.”
“This morning, they have fulfilled that promise they made and have picked the form from the party’s head office and have delivered it to me,” Dr. Bawumia added.
“The youth are a major asset of our party and the nation. They represent the future. I want to thank them for this major vote of confidence.”
While indicating he is “minded to contest the flagbearership of the NPP,” Dr. Bawumia said he would make “a full declaration in that regard” when he goes to submit the form delivered to him.
