Ablakwa bids farewell to British High Commissioner Harriet Thompson

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing British High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, describing her as dynamic, warm, and exceptionally efficient.

The Foreign Minister revealed that he hosted a farewell breakfast meeting in honour of the departing diplomat, highlighting her significant contributions to Ghana-UK relations in a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh

“Ghana will miss her dynamism, warmth and exceptional efficiency,” Ablakwa wrote, noting that Thompson’s four-year tenure saw her work “tirelessly and admiringly to cement our historical bond of friendship and advance Ghana-UK relations — particularly in trade, security, education, youth empowerment, health and technical support for revenue mobilization.”

He also expressed personal gratitude for her role in supporting the medical evacuation of a young Ghanaian, Suzy Pinamang, earlier this year.

“I afforded the opportunity to convey profound gratitude for her recent personal intervention in facilitating the emergency medical travel of Suzy Pinamang when I reached out,” Ablakwa stated.

The North Tongu MP further recalled her visit to Juapong Textiles in 2022, saying his constituents remember the visit fondly.

“My beloved North Tongu is also extremely grateful for her memorable working visit to Juapong Textiles in 2022,” he added.

He concluded by extending warm wishes on behalf of the government and people of Ghana: “The prayers and good wishes of the government and amazing people of Ghana are with her in her future endeavours. Long may 🇬🇭 🇬🇧 relations grow.”
