Despite opposition within the family, Daddy Lumba’s final funeral is set for December 13, 2025, according to family head (Abusuapanyin) Kofi Owusu aka 2Pac.
He said that during a December 8 visit to the Manhyia Palace, chiefs present approved the arrangements, even though the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was unavailable to meet them.
“We purposely went to invite Otumfuo, but he couldn’t come down. The elders and chiefs told me to go ahead and organise the funeral.
“Whether you like it or not, he will be buried on December 13,” Owusu said.
The Akosua Serwaa faction disputes this, claiming the Asantehene has not approved the burial.
They noted another meeting is scheduled for December 11, adding that the palace rejected the short-notice items presented to announce the funeral.
Owusu responded on social media, insisting his authority is final; “Whatever I say is final, so the burial is on December 13, 2025. I am the one the chiefs have given the mandate to organise the funeral ceremony.”
Tensions remain within the family, but preparations for the December 13 funeral are reportedly ongoing.
