Accolades or not, we’ll collect our money – Prof. Gyampo warns Mahama Supporters

Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has cautioned that President John Dramani Mahama, despite enjoying a surge in public praise, will not be shielded from accountability.

Appearing on The Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, June 21, Prof. Gyampo addressed the recent wave of commendation for President Mahama from individuals who had previously criticised his leadership.

“Mahama is being touted with accolades from some people who had criticised him severely,” he said.

He made it clear that while positive sentiments about Mahama’s performance may grow, the findings and recommendations of the Office of the Registrar of Assets and Liabilities (ORAL) must still be enforced.

“Whether Mahama’s accolades are touted or not, the report of the ORAL will be implemented,” Gyampo emphasized.

He also warned against allowing praise to override the constitutional duty to hold leaders accountable.

“Regardless of whatever people say about him, that he is doing well, that he is the most prepared president, we will collect our money, even if you praise him or you don’t praise him,” Gyampo stated.

“The President should not be swayed by these things.”
