Accountability must be sincere—Hamza Adam takes on NPP over Sammy Gyamfi issue

Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament, Hamza Adam, has mounted a strong defense of the government’s position on accountability, dismissing the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent calls for investigations as insincere and politically motivated.
Speaking during a media interaction, Hamza emphasized that the ruling administration remains firmly committed to both probity and accountability—values he said are at the heart of the government’s principles.
“We are not against any group or individual seeking to expand the frontiers of accountability. That is what governance should be about,” he stressed.
However, he expressed deep disappointment in the NPP, accusing the opposition of cherry-picking issues and failing to show national character in its pursuit of transparency.
“If the NPP truly valued accountability, they would not have stayed silent on the unresolved scandals under their own leadership—from the Sky Train project to questionable IT contracts,” he noted.
Hamza revealed that he too intends to file a formal petition concerning a $25 million contract awarded to a company allegedly run by the family members of a former state agency CEO, asserting that this administration is not afraid to pursue the truth.
He further criticized attempts to politicize the petition against NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, arguing that there is no legal breach involved.
“No part of the Foreign Exchange Act has been violated,” he insisted, describing the petition as a deliberate attempt to distract from the NDC’s growing influence and the effectiveness of Sammy Gyamfi.
