Accra-Atlanta Delta Flights resume; Air Transat to begin Ghana-Canada service

Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has welcomed two major developments in Ghana’s aviation sector, describing them as significant boosts to trade, tourism and economic diplomacy.
In a statement shared on social media, the minister announced the return of Delta Air Lines’ non-stop Accra–Atlanta service, which resumed operations on December 1, 2025.
He expressed confidence that the reinstated route would offer greater convenience to travellers and strengthen links between Ghana and the United States.
“I am excited about the re-introduction of Delta Air Lines non-stop flight from Accra to Atlanta (USA) which commenced operations yesterday, December 1, 2025,” he said.
Mr Ablakwa also highlighted another milestone—Canada’s Air Transat will begin a historic non-stop service between Accra and Canada on June 17, 2026. Ghana, he noted, views this second long-haul connection as a step forward for the country’s global engagement.
“Ghana equally applauds Air Transat of Canada for initiating a historic non-stop flight from Ghana to Canada which begins on June 17, 2026,” he stated.
He emphasised that both developments align with government’s broader diplomatic and economic goals.
“These refreshing developments will accelerate our economic diplomacy objectives, boost trade and tourism, and offer value and convenience mainly to Ghanaian travellers,” the Foreign Minister added.
