Accra court grants bail to blogger Samuel Amadotor over alleged false publication

Blogger Samuel Amadotor of Dklassgh.net has been granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court over allegations of publishing false information against former NCA Board Chairman Okatakyie Boakye Danquah Ababio II.
Amadotor faces two charges: publishing false news to cause fear and panic under Section 208(1) of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29), and publishing false news under Section 123 of the Electronic Transactions Act (Act 772). He pleaded not guilty to both.
Police allege Amadotor posted online stories and videos that harmed Ababio’s reputation, leading to his arrest at home. After hearing submissions from the prosecution and defence, the court granted bail, though it did not specify the reasons for the decision.
Amadotor’s lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbo, described the bail grant as a positive outcome. The trial will continue following his release.
