Accra hit with power cuts as fire erupts at Dzorwulu bulk supply point

Parts of Accra were plunged into darkness on Sunday, May 4, after a fire broke out at the Dzorwulu Bulk Supply Point, one of the city’s major electricity distribution hubs.
Massive clouds of smoke rising from the site caught the attention of residents and onlookers, with many capturing the moment on their phones.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly moved in and have since been battling the flames to prevent further damage.

As of now, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Authorities have sealed off the area to ensure public safety while fire crews work to contain the situation.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) confirmed the incident and its ripple effect on the power supply across several communities in a brief update.
“We are doing everything possible to restore electricity once it’s safe and the fire is fully under control,” ECG assured in the statement.
The company also apologised for the unexpected outage and appealed to the public for patience and cooperation during this emergency.
