Acting chose me, I didn’t choose it- Qwasi Blay Jnr

Qwasi Blay Jnr says his entry into acting was never planned, revealing that the profession found him unexpectedly while he pursued entirely different ambitions.

“I would say acting chose me,” he said during the Joy Prime interview monitored by MyNewsGh. “I didn’t choose it at all.”

According to the actor, his early dreams were far removed from the movie industry.

“I wanted to become a footballer and a lawyer,” he disclosed. “I’m a principled person, so people used to say I was hard the way I spoke.”

His path changed during senior high school after he represented his school in a pageant and later stepped into a lead drama role unexpectedly.

“The actor who was supposed to play the lead wasn’t available,” he recalled. “The drama madam said, ‘Come and try the role.’ I tried it, and the day of the show, I pulled it off.”

That moment, he said, was decisive.

“After everything, our reverend chaplain called me and said, ‘Continue with this path. Do not change,’” he recounted. “That was how my acting journey started.”

Despite entering a notoriously unpredictable industry, Qwasi Blay Jnr said he had no expectations when he chose to continue.

“If I tell you I had expectations, I would lie,” he admitted. “I was just going with the process and allowing God to take me through this path.”

He described moments of uncertainty but said faith kept him grounded.

“Sometimes I feel lost, like my path disappears,” he said. “But I’ve come to understand that when your path disappears, it means you’re on the right path. You just have to keep going.”
