Adeola Kingsley-James reveals internal conflicts stepmothers often face

Certified Rapid Transformational Therapist and Stepmom Coach Adeola Kingsley-James spoke about the emotional challenges and self-reflection required in blended families.
She shared the internal conflicts stepmothers experience when balancing relationships.
“At a point, she asked me, are you mommy or are you auntie? Because I used to run away from her,” Kingsley-James said the Clarity Zone podcast monitored by MyNewsGh.
She reflected on her own childhood and how it influenced her parenting. “I didn’t know whether if I spent too much time with her, would the others not start to feel like I’m spending too much? It’s that constant chatter,” she said.
Kingsley-James also discussed the importance of mutual effort in building relationships. “Now, my daughter fought for a relationship with me. The one where you were born. The one where I was born. That is unnatural,” she said.
She urged stepmothers to approach blended family dynamics thoughtfully and without unrealistic self-expectations.
“Are you not sure that you accepted to marry a husband with two kids because you were 34? It’s not like it’s a bad thing to be at that age,” she said.
