Adu-Boahen couple takes legal action against AG for damaging allegations

According to Citi News, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, a former head of the Signals Bureau, and his wife have initiated legal action against Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of making defamatory remarks during a press conference held on March 24, 2025.
According to court documents filed on April 24, the couple claims that statements made by Dr. Ayine during the widely covered briefing falsely accused them of criminal conduct.
They argue that the comments were made without basis and have had a lasting negative impact on their personal and professional reputations.
The plaintiffs are seeking exemplary and punitive damages, describing the Attorney General’s remarks as “highly offensive and defamatory.”
They are also asking the court to issue a perpetual injunction to prevent any further repetition or broadcast of the alleged defamatory statements.
In addition to damages and the injunction, the couple is seeking the recovery of legal costs, including attorneys’ fees.
Under court procedure, Dr. Ayine has eight days from the date of service to file a formal response to the lawsuit.
If he fails to respond within that period, the court may issue a default judgment in favor of the plaintiffs.
