Adu-Boahen deserves fair trial – Lawyer speaks out

Samuel Atta Akyea, legal counsel for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has criticized what he describes as prejudicial treatment of his client, emphasizing that he remains innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
In an exclusive interview with GHOne TV, the former Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South expressed frustration over being denied confidential access to Adu-Boahen, despite no court ruling affirming his guilt.
He insisted that his client deserves a fair legal process, stressing that, regardless of political affiliations, every individual is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
Atta Akyea also took issue with remarks made by Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, describing them as “unmitigated prejudice.”
He questioned the Attorney General’s stance on plea bargaining in a case where no formal charges have been presented before a court.
“Can you imagine that? People who have not been charged, people who have not been brought before a competent court, yet they are being urged to plea bargain,” he argued.
Kwabena Adu-Boahen was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on March 21, 2025, upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport.
His arrest is linked to allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial dealings.
