Akufo-Addo never listened to anyone – Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe

In a candid interview on TV3’s Hot Issues on Sunday, May 4, 2025, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, a founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed deep concerns about the current state of the party under the leadership of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I’m always praying that we still have senior people around, they should find a way to get the party back to the state that it was. At the moment, the party has been destroyed.
“Look at the results of the last elections,” Dr. Tamakloe stated, highlighting the significant challenges the party has faced in recent times.
Dr. Tamakloe was particularly critical of the leadership style of Akufo-Addo, accusing him of disregarding the input of party members and prioritizing personal interests.
“It’s not a question of factionalism, it’s a question of leadership,” he remarked, emphasizing that the party’s difficulties stemmed not from internal divisions but from the former president’s leadership approach.
He further expressed shock at Akufo-Addo’s leadership, stating, “I personally have really been shocked by the leadership of Akufo-Addo.
He came in and he never listened to anybody.” According to Dr. Tamakloe, this lack of inclusivity and consultation contributed to the party’s current challenges.
The criticism extended to the economic leadership within the party, where Dr. Tamakloe pointed out the talents of experienced figures like Kwame Pianim, who he believed could have steered the country’s economy more effectively.
“We have people like Kwame Pianim, if we come to the economy, you have nothing to worry about,” he said.
However, he felt that Akufo-Addo’s decision to bring in his own cousin instead of relying on experienced individuals led to what he described as a “family affair” approach to governance.
