Akufo-Addo signs book of condolence for late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

Former President Nana Akufo-Addo, his wife Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and several former senior government officials gathered to pay their final respects to the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
The former First Lady passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 76.
Akufo-Addo and his wife joined family members, dignitaries, and members of the public at her residence, where tributes poured in for the woman many described as “a pillar of courage and conviction.”
Former Chief of Staff, Ministers for Defence, Interior, Transport, and Lands, alongside several high-ranking officials from previous administrations, were in attendance.
Founder of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Otchere-Darko, and Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor also joined mourners to honour her memory.
Mr. Akufo-Addo, accompanied by his wife, signed the book of condolence, expressing his sympathies to the family.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who served as Ghana’s First Lady from 1981 to 2001, was a formidable political and social figure in her own right. As the founder and president of the 31st December Women’s Movement, she championed women’s rights, economic empowerment, and access to education nationwide.
Beyond her activism, she also served as the leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), reflecting her enduring commitment to shaping Ghana’s democratic landscape.
