Akufo-Addo was not corrupt with GetFund money – Paul Adom Otchere

Ace broadcast journalist Paul Adom-Otchere has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over what he described as misuse of GetFund resources, contrasting their actions with those of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on his Good Evening Ghana programme on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGh, Adom Otchere defended Akufo-Addo’s record, emphasizing that the former president used GetFund money to educate Ghanaians across the country and abroad.
“They said Akufo-Addo was a thief, that Akufo-Addo was corrupt.
“Akufo-Addo was this. For the eight years that Akufo-Addo was president, did you ever hear him go to parliament and say, pay parliamentarians GHC 200,000 to do a GetFund project, and on top of that, pay them GHC 150,000 to supervise the project?” he asked.
Adom Otchere highlighted that the former president’s approach prioritized education and inclusion.
“Akufo-Addo was using GetFund proceeds to educate people, including Justice Soem Sai, the Deputy Attorney General.
“Let me say it again… Akufo-Addo was using the GetFund resources to educate Ghanaians from all walks of life… Akufo-Addo was using GetFund money to educate Ghanaians abroad, including Justice Soem Sai,” he explained.
He then turned his attention to the current NDC administration, alleging that they are misappropriating GetFund resources for political gain.
“Guess what the NDC, who don’t like corruption, who said Akufo-Addo is a thief, is doing with GetFund money.
“They are paying GHC 250,000 to MPs to implement projects like day care centres or libraries, and then giving them GHC 150,000 to supervise the project. All together, they are giving them GHC 400,000 in total,” Adom Otchere claimed.
The journalist suggested that the distribution of these funds could benefit party insiders, referencing prominent NDC figures.
“And so it fits into the rumour that… the righteous NDC, the clean NDC, anti-corrupt NDC… Ato Forson, is going to collect some of this money. Look at Okudzeto Ablakwa here,” he added.
